Accountable Communities : Healthy Together- Asthma (ACHT-A) is a collaborative between the Georgia State University Institute of Public Health, Southside Medical Center, and the Department of Early Care and Learning: Bright from the Start.
Funded by the Healthcare Georgia Foundation, the purpose of ACHT-A is to decrease the burden and experience of adverse effects associated with childhood asthma within NPU-V by the development of a program to address the multiple modalities of educational, medical, and environmental interventions for the management and control of asthma and its symptoms. Our program targets children with asthma and those responsible for their care, to include parents, caregivers, doctors, community clinic nurses, and school teachers.
Project Goals1. Improve asthma self-management among children.
2. Improve access and quality of health services for children with asthma.
3. Improve knowledge and awareness among children with asthma, their parents/caregivers, and the general public.
4. Utilize existing community partnerships to implement and sustain integrated, comprehensive, and community-wide strategies.
Program Benefits - Free asthmatic-child healthcare through Southside Medical Center
- Asthma management training for parents/caregivers, practitioners, and educators
- Free transportation to doctor visits at Southside Medical Center
- In-home environmental surveys (includes house/carpet cleaning, mattress and pillow covers, mold inspection)
- Monetary stipends for participation
- Free sibling childcare during doctor visits and training sessions at Southside Medical Center.
How to participate in Accountable Communities: Healthy Together-Asthma
A. Enroll your child age 2-17 in program, contact us for more information on enrollment.
B. Partner with us and host a training event at your organization (school, community center, church, etc.) We deliver this training FREE of charge we only ask that you gather an audience of at least 15 participants.
C. Do not have an eligible child, but would like to participate in training?
