Legacy House/Village

(For People Living with AIDS/HIV)

Legacy House
Legacy House provides permanent housing and supportive services to people with low income, who are medically, physically, and psychologically frail because they are living with HIV/AIDS, and are in the latter stages of the disease. Residents may need assistance with personal care and activities of daily living ,including but not limited to hygiene, taking medications, meals, etc.

Residents live in a handicapped/accessible four bedroom/three bath house which can accommodate up to eight people. In close proximity to Southside Medical Center (SMC) and several major hospitals, the well-appointed house features community areas, including a dining room in which three meals are served every day, a family room, a pleasant wrap around porch and deck.

Our Services
Supportive services are available from and provided by Southside Medical Center (SMC) and other AIDS support organizations, which include health management, mental health counseling, substance abuse recovery support, nutrition counseling, and legal services.

Because of the services our clients receive – housekeeping, maintenance, transportation, meals and more, residents can live comfortably and never feel alone.

Our Staff
Our caring, competent, and dedicated staff enable residents to feel secure and to trust that their best interest is taken to heart. Case managers make sure health needs are met and management staff keeps day to day operations running smoothly. Resident managers are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week and groundskeepers and maintenance personnel keep the buildings and grounds in top condition.

Legacy Village
Legacy Village provides permanent housing and supportive services to low income persons living with HIV/AIDS in a 15-unit apartment and in a 3 bedroom house next door.

The apartment homes of Legacy Village, which include one-and- two- bedroom floor plans, all feature fully equipped kitchens, some household furnishings, and individually controlled heat and air conditioning.

The Transitional House, located next door, accommodates residents with recent substance abuse experiences. The Transitional House allows them to live in a comfortble setting where they can focus on overcoming their personal obstacles and no longer be concerned with the added pressure of being homeless.

In close proximity to SMC and several major hospitals, Legacy Village also features an on-site laundry facitlity and a community meeting room used for counseling, support groups and group sessions.

Our Services
Supportive services are avalable from and provided by SMC and other AIDS support organizations including health management, mental health counseling, substance abuse recovery support, nutrition counseling, and legal services. Because of the services our residents receive they continue to maintain their independence while living in a safe and affordable environment.
